Well, I was certainly hyped about getting the Gossip Girl Birchbox after being away from Birchbox for many months. I had gotten one too many perfume and lotion samples last year and took a break. The Gossip Girl Birchbox for May 2012 was calling my name and I had to resubscribe, the suspense was killing me!

Yes indeed, I did receive another perfume sample. Sad face. I am happy with the Color Club nail polish, even though it’s a mini, and Clambake Coral is a shade I don’t have in my collection. I am happy that I received a Kiehl’s product because it’s high time I tried something from Kiehl’s. I would have been happy to receive the MST Body SPF 20 but I already reviewed it here. I definitely did not need another Twistband hair tie, since I already received one in a previous Birchbox that I could not use (my hair is short). The Birchbox Extra is a notecard and that’s OK. I don’t really feel like this box suits the Gossip Girl theme all that much.

Have you signed up for Loose Button in Canada, not sure if there’s a waiting list but I am dying for them to open up to the US. I’ve seen all the blog posts and YouTube videos of what you lovely Canadians get from them and think they are one of the best!

why the perfume samples? why, God, why?????? argggg. I find them so annoying….so many people have asthma and allergies that perfume should be just given to those that want it. My opinion.
Lord, yes I feel your pain on the perfume samples. I didn’t even sniff this one, just put in my bag to give to family/friends. I did get ONE that I loved it was Atelier I think and it was so unique, an organic or natural fragrance I think.
Are these boxes worth subscribing too? Love the idea of them but hate the thought of getting a load of samples I won’t use!
It depends on who you ask!! Some people just adore getting these little boxes of surprises no matter what. I do LOVE surprises but I just got so bogged down with all the perfume and lotion samples that I didn’t need. I wish they would revamp a little and add new brands and new types of samples.

BVLGARI parfums are amazing! i think the men’s line is better though… since i buy them…. =)
Honestly, I did not even sniff this one, just put it in my “to trade” bag! I actually love wearing scents intended for men :).

I have a feeling my girlfriend will be disappointed. I signed us both up for birchbox, and I’ve already received my birchbox man inaugural box. I was very disappointed. Big disappointment based on her love for Gossip Girl and my interest in getting a surprise goody box once a month. I think the socks I received are hideous, haha, and, I bet, were the result of a product that did not sell well. Hey, let’s give away what we can’t sell! Oh well. It was worth the chance, but not worth a subscription with a chance to be disappointed again. We’ve canceled both of our subscriptions.
Well the good news is not everyone get the same items in their Birchbox so she may like hers! Sorry to hear that you were disappointed by your first box for men, I have seen several other reviews and they all had the socks! I guess it’s always love or hate with these things because you can’t please all of us, right? 🙂
Were you very specific on your beauty profile? I read that you should pick no more than 2 themes. I also read that if you put that you were concerned about aging etc then you would receive quite a bit of face creams. I am also not an expert, the Gossip Girl box was my first box. I am very pleased with what I received, I’m sorry that you are not. It seems that people really love them or really dislike them.
Hi Jess! You know, I’ve went back a few times to look at my profile and see what I might be doing wrong and can’t figure it out. I think I do have 2 themes chosen so maybe I will go back and pick just one? I do have anti-aging as a concern but actually have not received much in that category. I just keep getting body lotions and perfume samples. I do like the Kiehl’s and the Color Club so I can’t say that I dislike TOO much. It’s $10 and it’s a mystery box so it is what it is :).
